Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Chamber?
The Grandview Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization established to serve the business community through its commitment to promoting a positive business environment and encouraging economic growth, leadership, education and interaction.
Who Joins The Chamber?
Members include businesses of all sizes, from one-person shops to large corporations. They join the Chamber to collectively impact the growth and health of our local economy.
What's In It For My Business?
The Grandview Area Chamber of Commerce give you numerous opportunities to broaden your business contacts and referrals, have access to low and no-cost marketing opportunities, have an impact on local, state, and federal legislation, enhance your leadership and professional skills and participate in projects that effect the community.
Who Runs The Chamber?
A Board of Directors of 19 business men and women, representing all segments of businesses govern the Chamber. Some serve three-year elected terms, some one-year appointed terms. The Chamber also has three paid staff who take care of the day-to-day operations of the Chamber.
When Are Meetings Held?
The Chamber holds at least one membership event each month and these are typically held on the fourth Thursday of the month. The times and locations vary from month to month, with some meetings being lunches and some business after hours to allow a variety for the members.
If I’m Busy And Can’t Attend An Event, Are Any of My Employees Eligible To Come?
All of them are welcome to attend, either in your place or with you. In fact, many of our seminars and workshops are aimed at employees and not employers, so watch for e-mails and faxes announcing programs that might be of more interest to someone in your company other than you.
What’s The Best Way To Get The Most Out Of My Membership?
Our most satisfied clients seem to be those who attend meetings and activities, and who use us a source of information. We’ve long believed that business is a full contact sport; the chamber is the perfect place to make contacts with potential new customer for your business or profession.
What’s The Chambers Relationship With City Hall?
While not connected directly with local government, we work very closely with city council members and the staff in a number of ways. We have a contract with the City to provide economic development programs. We also provide advice and opinions on a range of issues including transportation, taxation, land use, redevelopment and public safety.
