Boy Scout's Explorer Post
The Grandview Fire Department sponsors a Kansas City metropolitan area Boy Scout's Explorer Post. The post, which has been active for over 25 years, gives boys and girls between the age of 14 and 21 hands on experience in first aid and firefighting. The explorers are treated like regular members of the crew and are assigned duties around the firehouse as well as by the truck on fire scenes. There are six ranks within the post and Scouts must pass a stringent test and interview before advancing to the next rank, just like the fire service. In fact, many of the explorers go on to pursue careers in the fire service. For more information, call (816) 316-4962.
